Planeta respira

Glumesti? Bineinteles ca nu. Ei merg dintr-un loc in altul. Cand ai facut ultima plimbare simpla in cartierul tau, gandeste-te daca ai ales casa potrivita, bucura-te de mirosul primaverii, mirosul ierbii taiate proaspat, sa vezi pasarile si intreaga natura care is urmeaza cursul?

Planet Takes a Deep Breath

I

am a big fan of reusing and recycling as much as possible. Reducing is something I am still struggling with. However our lives need constant usage of materials and sometimes even useless things that give us the beauty of life. Look at the flowers we buy. We don’t actually need them. They clutter our lives, but we bring a bit of nature into our lives. We have a pretty strong motivation for having them beside us. So, today I went out and got myself the freesia I was dreaming of for such a long time. Also at the flower shop I found peonies and lilac. I went ahead and bought each of them. I left behind the lilies, which were my grandmother’s favourites, as they are dangerous for the kid. So, here I was strolling home with my baby and the flowers with me. And this whole picture gave me the top of the world I needed on a gloomy tiring day. Still, getting home and beginning to arrange my flowers in vases, I realised something. The lilac is actually a tree, a beautiful tree that gives gardens such lovely smells in spring. I need a garden. It’s a silly thing buying lilac as it doesn’t last. Peonies are certainly way better where they grow naturally. I have this place in my mind as they require lots of water and muddy areas. It’s called Comana, a delta and a heavenly place where we used to go in weekends as early as possible before all the madness of the city arrived there: hundreds of cars arriving. And finally it was only the commercial freesia that made sense to buy and decorate the house. I love them all. I adore the smell, but it’s the human way to buy useless stuff to decorate the house. And then what? They are indeed not polluting, but have you thought the wrapping, the cutting of the plant and so on, what they do to the planet? We cannot cut pollution to zero that’s clear. The elephants have this nomadic way of living: they eat up a whole valley of everything that’s green and alive. And then they move on. What would the elephants do to reduce their impact? Stop eating? Are you kidding? Of course not. They move from one place to another. In the meantime their initial valley would revive itself with the help of rains and bare ground. That was the whole point of migrating nations. Humans stopped that habit, we settled for something and seems like now we are as many as possible and we never stop eating. Eating stands here for all the bad habits we keep consuming the nature’s resources. Think about all the things we get to cut out during the past two months since we have all been in lockdown. How much less stuff we used and consumed. Personally it was the first time I didn’t have to throw out half a jar of face cream because it expired. I got to finish it. And I am feeling so much happier that I don’t spend hours in traffic. I don’t miss that at all. Can my work be done from home? Yes, most of it, yes. What keeps us going and consuming fuel to get to work and back from work? No one knows? Have you tried answering that? Because honestly the planet has been breathing relieved that we stopped chewing all of it. And the whole beauty of this general lockdown is that it’s happening in spring. When was the last time you took a simple walk in your neighborhood, think about whether or not you made the right choice for a home, enjoy the smell of spring, the smell of fresh grass being cut, see the birds and the whole nature do their thing? Did you step on a bug? No, because you looked out and you saw him struggling to survive. We need this kind of break from time to time. We need to do it wise and so it doesn’t impact economy so much. But we clearly cannot go back to the way we were doing things. Have you also noticed the extraordinary deep breathe we can all take once we see the clear skies, or even the cloudy skies, keeping our spirits up with all our family around? I love this period. I have embraced it like never before. I am simply enjoying all the good time I get to spend with my son, see my husband and even the quiet moments I get to spend with my own brain, it’s extraordinary good. Therefore I thank this Covid-19 for giving us such a great break from the crazy lives we were living and the continuous chew of our planet.
