Oxigen in sector
Admirabil in contextul inexplicabilei poluari identificata zilele astea!

District Measures
[edgtf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”#d6a67c” background_color=””]T[/edgtf_dropcaps]he mayor of our 6th district gets heard from time to time, so if he is doing something, therefore he exists. The other days while looking up something on Google, I ran into an article where Mr. Mutu was telling how he desinfected the district quick and cheap. He was quite proud to announce the genius idea of using hydrogen peroxide. Very cool idea!, I said to myself on the run. And then, having some more free time, I read a bit about this hydrogen peroxide. After all I am a woman and I have been dying my hair for many years. I have also many hours of staying at the beauty parlor or doing it myself at home. You also know it’s always written on the tubes to move fast with the application of the substance once the mix was done as it’s quite an unstable mixture. That is also what I know from the Chemistry hours.
Good thoughts, but we also have Google and Wikipedia for clarifications. I wrote before about my sympathy for such tools and I am grateful some people used time of their lives to build the „encyclopedia for lazy ones” like myself. And that’s where I got what I already knew: the substance is unstable and it quickly turns into water and oxygen. The hydrogen peroxide is used as antiseptic as a diluted solution. It is capable of releasing gas oxygen. It’s recommended due to its cleaning capacities in benign superficial wounds. The hidrogen atom from the hydrogen peroxide tends to be easily released. The oxygen is toxic for the pathogens which makes the hydrogen peroxide efficient in neutralizing these. So mister mayor did a sort of oxygenizing of the district. The district measures are admirable given the inexplicable pollution from the last weeks! A cheap solution of 1 leu / square meter which may reduce the pollution level we keep having from building sites, old cars, un-dusted streets or the landfills.
It’s strange that especially these days, when there are less cars on the streets, almost no airplane flights in the sky and lots of businesses closed, we sadly notice how the streets are getting dirtier, the garbage bins disappear, and the dust is everywhere in the area. We have for build sites around the house, maybe that’s why we have so much dust on the street and in the house. It’s good that we get a bit of oxygen from this initiative to disinfect. Still I miss my days in the park and the green grass and trees from Moghioros. Seemed like in those long walks I would forget the dust in the streets. Actually I don’t believe there was that much dust on the street.
I believe these days mister mayor has lots of old problems to deal with: old cars parked next to block of flats – there are four only around my block, the build sites which let sand, debris or even styrofoam pieces fall out the sites. It’s a good time to deal with such: everyone is at home so owners to the old dusty unused cars can be easily found and the remains can be taken to be recycled. The other day I had some blocks of styrofoam fly in front of my eyes from a build site in the area. The kid was really happy by a flying cube, but I didn’t laugh at all. And in my walks I always see dirt on the ground: plastic gloves, face masks, dust, other construction debris. That’s so sad!
I do understand we live these strange days where all authorities in the world are overwhelmed and don’t really know what the right path is, but let’s keep the city clean at least as much as we had so far. And yes, I support it is important to be peaceful and listen well to measures, but let’s also judge what we can do or can’t do ourselves – individually or by authorities. I am so revolted that I am thinking of buying myself a car to clean the streets and give an example to the mayor. I wonder if we can all do something in our individual walks? Or maybe mister mayor can find something as cheap as the oxygen in the hydrogen peroxide and we can mind our own business quietly.
